My daughter Celina aka Potato has curly hair that is thick and hard to manage. When I normally send her to school she goes out the door with her hair looking on point. However, by the time she returns back home; she looks like she has spent one day on the island of Survivor and I just don’t get it at times.

I have tried different products in the past with Aloe Vera and other natural and moisturizing ingredients in lieu of getting her hair relaxed, but her mane seems to have an invisible cloak that it uses against all hair products as they have never been able to get the job done.

I recently received the Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus hair line, which is said to hydrate and protect hair, while reducing frizz; and my daughter automatically fell in love with the smell and outcome of the products on her hair.

We set up a salon Sunday for her to get her hair done by me and her cousin Tianna. We started to wash her hair with the Curl and Shine Shampoo, a sulfate-free shampoo that gently cleanses, hydrates and restores shine for bouncy and healthy curls. Then followed that with the Conditioning Cleanser, which removes impurities without stripping hair of natural oils. I finished off the washing session with the Curl and Shine Conditioner which restores moisture, detangles and smoothes dry hair cuticles.

As we applied one product after another we could feel her hair get softer and softer. After the conditioner the normally dreaded detangling process began and I started to pass the comb through my daughter’s hair. There were knots still present, but the knots slid off a lot faster than they normally do and we were able to finish the detangling process a lot faster than normal.

After towel drying her hair, I sprayed the Hold & Shine Moisture Mist, which hydrates and tames frizz, while providing a soft hold. Then I applied the Curl and Style Milk which helps detangle and control curls, while restoring shine. I then followed that up with Curl Enhancing Smoothie, that defines curls and restores moisture and shin.¬† We finished off Potato’s Salon Sunday with Shea Moisture with the Curling Gel Souffle that hydrates and defines curls, while reducing frizz and leaving hair with a natural shine.

The Coconut Hibiscus Hair Line from Shea Moisture left my daughter’s hair looking and smelling good. Her hair was curly, yet manageable and had a nice natural shine that was a stark difference from the dry cotton ball of a hair that formally greeted me every night as I picked my daughter up after work.

This is the healthiest that my daugther’s hair has been in a long time and I was happy to see her happy as she showed off her hair to the whole family. Another added bonus for me is that my son, got a whiff of the collection and started to style his own hair every morning using the Coconut Hibiscus products, without me having to prompt him. This in itself is a big help for me on hectic school day mornings, as he normally hates to do his hair and I end up having to do it, all while he complains normally about getting his hair done.

If you have a child with curly hair that puts up a fight with you daily as it knots up real quickly and dries out by the end of the day, then the Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Hair line is a great tool to help win the war of getting your child’s mane back in check and looking beautifully curly again.
