Ford Motor Company continues to lead in the innovation of ideas that drive the people, technologies, and communities in our cities as they hosted the City of Tomorrow Symposium in San Francisco, where experts and enthusiasts in different fields from technology, urban planners, non profits, politicians, academics and citizens came together to address the key issues in mobilities in our cities.  The inaugural event explored and identified problems in mobility throughout cities which are inhabited by over half of the world’s population and emerging solutions that will shape how our growing cities can attempt to address and improve on these growing issues.

With rising gridlock, pollution, and ineffective mass transit plaguing people across the world, mobility throughout cities becomes more and more complicated every year. Looking forward to the future of our cities and it’s inhabitants, Ford started to explore opportunities, experiments, and emerging technological advancements that could possibly be applied and help to  alleviate and improve on many of these mobility issues that are prevalent throughout our world now.  Ford has created a City Solutions team that partnered up with a coalition of mayors and Bloomberg Philanthropies to help address urban environment issues in congested cities and develop and implement new technological innovations to make moving around cities easier and less stressful.

The City of Tomorrow Symposium was composed of seminars and hands on workshops that explored how mobile technological advancements like autonomous and electric vehicles, ride sharing, ride-hailing, and connected vehicles could potentially create a more efficient and healthier transportation ecosystem in our current city’s infrastructures.  While also exploring how emerging technology such as Ford’s new ride-sharing app Chariot, wireless charging for electric cars, and progress in traffic management can be utilized and help shift the way people move throughout their city.

Ford has bee dedicated to finding and creating solutions for everyone, whether or not they have a car, by renewing their commitment to addressing mobility challenges for people across the world.  The efforts taken by Ford can ultimately aid in the elimination of mass amounts of parking and traffic congestion, along with reducing major city’s environmental footprints.  This along with the potential impact of drones, high-speed mass transits, and many other innovations could change the way an entire city’s infrastructure operates ultimately helping to created a more efficient and healthier mobility experience throughout our cities, making this vision of moving the City of Tomorrow forward one day a reality .
