In 2013 Latinos accounted for nearly one-third of the non-elderly uninsured populatio and now with more than 50 million Hispanics living in the United States it’s important to have educational resources on health coverage available in Spanish; this ensures that hispanic patients have the information and questions to ask to choose the best coverage for them and their family and access the treatments and services they need. With PhRMA’s launch of http://Access BetterCoverage.org/espanol, Latinos now have a hub of Spanish-language resources on health care, health insurance and tips for shopping for health coverage.
The new site introduces important resources to help people better understand how health insurance works and what to expect from their coverage and includes a series of Spanish-language white board videos explaining basic insurance terms like deductibles, copays and coinsurance, and how formularies work as well as a glossary of health insurance terms and lists of questions to ask when picking a plan.
“Everyone should be able to access trusted health care information, regardless of the language they speak. We know health coverage can be confusing and overwhelming – particularly for those purchasing it for the first time – so we created a simple, straightforward resource to help demystify the process and equip patients to make coverage decisions that are right for them,” said PhRMA President and CEO John J. Castellani.
